Master Robert Aubrey 5th Dan   

 

Master Aubrey began his martial arts career in early 1970.  He initially began with the classic Tang Soo Do, Moo Duk Kwan Karate Institute, Detroit Michigan under instructors  David J. Praim,  David E. Prue,  and Robert Kelver.  Each instructor could trace direct lineage to that of Grandmaster Hwang Kee (founder of modern day Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan) and Grand Master Jae Joon Kim dan #38 and founder of the World Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do Federation. 

In 1979 Master Aubrey was promoted to 1st Dan World Moo duk Kwan Tang Soo Do Federation Grandmaster Jae Joon Kim (Dan # 16204), and achieved 2nd Dan in 1981.  Transitioning through various martial arts styles and techniques, Master Aubrey returned to Tang Soo Do and received 3rd Dan in 1989 and his 4th Dan Master certification and certified Tang Soo Do instructor in 2006. 

During his career in martial arts Master Aubrey served as team captain and chief instructor to a number of teams to include the US Armed Forces Martial Arts Champion team in 1982 where he not only served as a coach for the championship team but took first place in the NAKA National Team Championship 

Among his other achievements and Martial Arts championships were 1st place  forms, 1st place sparring Miami International championships ( Grand Master Hee Il Cho center referee) in 1982; Grand Champion, Washington state tae kwon do championships  (sparring) 1st place forms competition in 1985; 1st place Greater Northwest karate in 1987 and repeat in 1988; 1st place Mafs championships in 1988. 

In 1999 Master Aubrey began instruction as an Adjunct professor  at South Puget Sound community College in the physical education department where he taught courses in: athletic performance conditioning, Basic weight training, Intermediate weight training, Advanced weight training, Introduction to martial arts, Intermediate martial arts and self defense; and competition sparring.  During this time Master Aubrey received his ACEP coaching certification followed by his YMCA exercise certification in 2000. 

In 2003 Master Aubrey was presented with his Instructor certification by the Pan Am Tang Soo Do Federation Studio certification and later went on to found the Northwest Tang Soo Do of Yelm Washington. 

During the inception of the Northwest Martial Arts school Master Aubrey has played host to a number of renowned Tang Soo Do masters to include Grand Master Khalid,  Master Dana Shell – 6th dan Kenpo Karate, and Master Michael Gneck  (1st instructor of  world famous full contact #1 fighter Bill Wallace). This year Master Bob Aubrey received one of the highest awards that one martial artist can achieve, he was  inducted into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame for his outstanding motivational leadership. Also this year he placed second in the masters division for forms at the Battle of Seattle Martial Arts Tournament hosted by the World Dang Soo Do Federation.

This year 2008 Master Aubrey brought together a collection of martial arts instructors and founded the Northwest Martial Arts Education Center.  A truly unique approach to the concept of martial arts training and philosophy.  As the school continues to improve and grow, Master Aubrey is dedicated to giving back to the community and students his loyalty and knowledge.  Striving for excellence and spirit of Tang Soo Do. Master Aubrey traveled to California and tested through the Western Pacific Tang Soo Doo Association which is apart of the World Dang Soo Do Union.

Master Randy Lance 5th Dan   

Master Randy Lance started  his martial arts training in 1981 under Grandmaster Archibeque . He trained for two years in Gung-fu.  After two years Randy became affiliated with Olympic Tae Kwon Do under instructor Master Gene Parsons who trained under Chung Sun Do who himself was a student of the founder of Song Moo Kwan Tae Kwon Do, Supreme Grandmaster Byung Jick Ro.  From 1989 through 1991, Randy was the instructor for Leisure Education Tae Kwon Do at Evergreen State College earning his first Dan in 1990 and 2nd Dan in 1991.

In 1999 Randy became a member of Northwest Tang Soo Do. In the same year Randy was promoted to 2nd Dan ( #16605) in Tang Soo Do with the World Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do Federation under Grandmaster Jae Joon Kim dan number 38.  In 2000 Randy explored his martial arts roots and contacted the American Song Moo Kwan Association. 

2000 was a banner year for Master Randy Lance as he was afforded the rare opportunity to visit Korea and partake in the esteemed Korean Kukkiwon training and education trip where he was awarded "Best Team Leader". Additionally he was awarded level 3 instructor training certification under the World Haidong Gumdo Federation.  In 2001 Randy was awarded his 4th Dan and Master Certification in Tae Kwon Do through the American Song Moo Kwan Association under Grandmaster Kirk Koskella. In 2003 Master Lance founded the Song Do Martial Arts school which supports both Tang Soo Do and Taekwondo Martial Arts.

 Master Randy Lance traveled to California in November of 2008 and tested for his 4th Dan inTang Soo Do certified under the Western Pacific Tang Soo Do Association.

In December of 2008 the International Song Moo Kwan Association recognized his excellence and promoted Master Lance to 5th Dan master instructor of Song Moo Kwan Taekwondo.

Today Master Randy Lance teaches Korean martial arts to anyone who wants to learn, educating youth and adults in martial arts and the history of Tang Soo Do and Taekwondo. Master Lance continues his practice and education under his teachers to better himself so he can continue to pass down his knowledge to others.
