Master Aubrey Inducted into Martial Arts World Hall of Fame

Nearly four decades have passed since Master Bob Aubrey began his martial arts saga. Aubrey’s lifelong journey seems to
have reached its apex. His dedication and hard work culminated Saturday, May 3 in Orlando, Florida with a Martial Arts
World Hall of Fame induction for Outstanding Motivational Leadership.

Aubrey, a fourth degree black belt, was unable to accept the award in person, but Robyn Goodwin, Northwest Martial
Arts Education Center program director and assistant instructor, accepted the award on his behalf. With honor and dignity,
Aubrey was humble in his Hall of Fame induction.

“I don’t feel like I deserve it,” Aubrey said. “There’s so many other people that have done the same thing but haven’t been
awarded.” Goodwin understands Aubrey’s feelings on the award, but she said his induction is warranted. “I personally
understand he is humble, but he does deserve it,” Goodwin said. “It’s his ability to believe in other people that makes all the
   difference.”

Aubrey has been a staple in the martial arts community since 1970. In June 2003, Aubrey founded Northwest Tang Soo Do in
Yelm. As head instructor of Yelm’s Martial Arts and Education Center, Aubrey uses his knowledge and leadership to mold
students into respectful, honorable martial artists. Goodwin has known Aubrey for 10 years and has seen his impact first-
   hand.

“A lot of what it is, he’ll take people that have been struggling in school...and are not disciplined, and he helps them,” she
said. “He doesn’t look at their baggage. He sees them fresh and that they can be successful." “He treats each person the
   same and he’s so charismatic.”
